Tuca & Bertie Canceled Again Via Adult Swim

Adult Swim has canceled Tuca & Bertie after two seasons on it’s network, this after the show had already been canceled on Netflix after a lone season. Show creator Lisa Hanawalt confirmed as such in a tweet and praised the fact that the network as well as the fact that the show was a unionized via both TAG and WGA.

It should be noted that Tuca & Bertie saw an almost 50% decrease in the overnight ratings for the show’s third season premiere compared to the series’ second season premiere, both of which were on Adult Swim and can now be streamed on HBO MAX. Add in the fact that star and producer Tiffany Haddish was arrested on a DUI earlier this year and was part of a frivolous lawsuit over the summer, the increasing costs of the show both socially and financially were probably too much for the now WB Discovery-owned network to deal with.

Synopsis:

Tuca (Tiffany Haddish) and Bertie (Ali Wong) are best friends and they’re both full of ghosts! Bertie is excavating her inner ghouls with the help of a therapist, while Tuca prefers to stuff hers behind the toilet. She’ll deal with them later, right now she’s too busy trying not to be single anymore! Meanwhile Speckle (Steven Yeun) is building a new house and he’s driven to the edge of sanity so many times, it’s a good thing he’s just a cartoon. This season of TV demonizes geese and romanticizes seagulls! You’ll never look at plants the same way again!

Tuca & Bertie is created and executive produced by Lisa Hanawalt, with Raphael Bob-Waksberg, Noel Bright, Steven A. Cohen, Haddish, and Wong also serving as executive producers, The series is produced by Michael Eisner’s The Tornante Company and the animation will be done at Shadowmachine.
