Shout Factory Gets “Alf” Distribution Rights With Potential For New Content On The Way

Shout Factory has acquired the distribution rights to the Alf franchise. This includes all animated series, the TV movie, and the original series that was a primetime mainstay in the 1980s. With this agreement, there appears to also be new content, unseen footage, and more. Whether or not this means a full-fledged reboot of the Paul Fusco and Tom Patchett created series, is unknown at the juncture, but we hope so.  Last year, Alf was available on Tubi under Alf’s previous deal with Lionsgate, the new partnership is looking to augment this to other streaming platforms.

Synopsis:

ALF stands for “alien life form,” and it becomes the adopted moniker of Gordon Shumway, the last known survivor of the planet Melmac. Gordon crashes his spacecraft into the garage of the Tanner family’s suburban home, and is subsequently adopted by them.
