Season Three Review: Brickleberry

The one thing that this season of Brickleberry did that was better than last year, was for the first-time Roger Black started calling in some favors for a lot of the Howard Stern Show wack packers and staff to do guest spots. And why not? The Howard Stern Show is on a service that has millions of subscribers, so why not take advantage? Richard and Sal, Benjy, and the late Eric the Actor all had bit parts throughout the season even if the latter never made it to air.

For the most part, Brickleberry season three scored right about the same as season two…why? Well, I don’t think the show took as many daring chances as season two. We really didn’t see much experimentation like we did with the ‘Trailer Park’ episode that happened last season, however in terms of dialogue this was the best season the show has ever had. We also got to see the continued growth of Daniel Tosh as a voice actor for Malloy, but the series is slowly pulling out of the shadow of being a show featuring Tosh as characters like Connie and Ethel become more and more popular.

Roger Black and Waco O’ Guin’s strengths have been taking on celebrities and this year no one was safe not even the President of the United States. We also got to hear a lot of geek jokes including those surrounding Ben Affleck as Batman and even a light saber ‘duel’. But, can the series grow from here? I think so. I think the possibility of more guest stars from The Howard Stern Show has me excited, and the series does NOT pull any punches. I’d like to see the cast become more creative when inputting dialogue because you can tell other than Roger and Tom Kenny not a lot of the dialogue sounds improvised, and I think having this many funny people in the same room needs to do it’s service.
