Spoilers Below

The Hero

We hear about this guy named Brad who claims to be a big time knight. He asks for Wander and Sylvia to help him in saving a Princess in a castle. The castle has a big huge maze, and it’s here you can see this dude may not be the sharpest spoon in the drawer. Eventually, they leave Sylvia behind, and the guys head into the castle past a whole shit load of booby traps. Unfortunately, our ‘hero’ makes it through a bunch worse than Wander does, but everyone gets through Ok and they make it to this sword that’s stuck in a rock. Welp, the Hero snaps the blade so everyone has no choice but to make it to the Princess. Just as Wander and Sylvia are able to do battle in the next room, The Hero stops everything and starts complaining about Christ knows what. The trio are captured then brought before the king who is already saddled up with the Princess just fine. Turns out this ”Hero” is named Brad and as it turns out this guy has been trying to gain the attention of the Princess for years and she just wants to be friends. Brad isn’t crazy about the idea so he captures and Princess and tries to take off, but she beats the shit out of him.

After what seems like forever, Wander Over Yonder returns to Disney…XD…on Monday Nights….which is great! Why? Well, I need something to watch before Archer and this show does just fine. That’s because the series has such great ideas, and ”The Hero” was a great showcase of that. The plot of the series certainly shows shades of Mel Brooks, but with a Looney Tunes spin that most other programs really do not do. On top of that, this particular episode took a rather cliched plot device with the ‘prince saving the princess’ deal, and turned that shit right on top of its head. From a booby-trapped castle, do the dragon marrying the princess, it certainly gives fans of Shrek a familiar setting only to rearrange it the only way C.H. Greenblatt knows how.

The Birthday Boy

It’s Hater’s Bday and Wander really wants to celebrate with Sylvia. Welp, Wander decides to build a pinata, while his steed goes off to fight Hater’s minions. Eventually, Hater breaks out his huge gun, but Sylvia smacks it away and she loves every minute of it. Last, but not least, Hater sends out a big huge monster that literally knocks Sylvia out of the park. The monster then heads to Wander whom has dog treats causing the monster to obey to his new master’s every word. Hater takes off in disgust, but when he tries to take matters into his own hand, Sylvia unleashes all of Hater’s traps which leads to the Lord’s falter. To put a big bow on it, Wander breaks out the banjo and sings Hater a tune.

The second episode was probably a bit more typical for Wander. Lots of times we see him just constantly piss the shit out of Hater and it’s one of the funnier concepts for the show. I love it when Sylvia gets in there and really beats the shit out of everyone. It’s funny, and she always comes with sass while doing it. Unfortunately, we really did just get the same joke over and over again, but overall Wander really makes it seem like it’s your birthday, everyday.
