Review: Regular Show Presents: Terror Tales of the Park Part III

 Spoilers Below

Another year, another halloween and everyone’s telling stories and having a contest on who can tell the scariest story!

Killer Bed

Rigby gets a new bed, but soon he learns on the news that this serial killer was chopped in a bed making machine and as luck would have it Rigs has THE bed that the guy was put in. The bed comes to life and tries to kill Rigby, but Mordecai and the rest of the crew run upstairs to see what’s going on. Benson comes upstairs and tries to make sense with the bed only to plan an ambush.

Muscle Man is up with the next story…

Jacked Up Jack O Lantern

Muscle Man and the guys go into a pumpkin patch to smash all of the dead pumpkins. However, the crew decides to smash up these two scare crows even though there is a sign that says otherwise. After smashing the lady scare crow, the dude one comes to life and chases everyone through the corn fields. The scare crow captures Mordecai and turns him into squash and then catches up to Rigby and does the same. Lastly, the scare crow squashes Muscle Man and turns the seeds into pumpkins.

Benson comes in from confiscating candy and his story is next!

The Previous Owner

Benson’s story starts off with another story that details an owner named Jebediah that died 200 years ago and is now part of the house. Benson leaves, but the employees decide to have a bet you can sleep in the haunted house the longer. Pops is the first to catch a glimpse of Jebediah, but its Muscle Man and High Five that gets turned into brownies. Pops, Mordecai, and Rigby get chased out of the house, but Pops gets eaten. Jebediah chases Mordecai and Rigby and then THEY get eaten…end story.

Thomas loses the contest, and Benson wins the contest. Turns out Benson’s story was somewhat true and Jebediah is a real thing.

I think the BEST thing about this episode was the constant ragging on poor Thomas. I actually think Regular Show’s newest character should get more screen time as a result, because he just kind of takes it. Rigby was maybe the worst with his constant inside jabs followed closely by Muscle Man whom just piles it on. All of the shorts for this week’s 30 minute special were solid but I think the best one was ‘Killer Bed’ just because it’s rare when we see Benson get truly maniacal and it’s even more rare when he teams up with Rigby to do stuff. I do think the ideas that the Jacked Up short had were really, really good, but in terms of comedic value ‘Killer Bed’ was definitely the best. ‘Previous Owner’ wasn’t bad but I think save for maybe the ending, the premise wasn’t all too dissimilar to others that Regular Show has done. Fans should recall that Regular Show has a pretty stellar record of monsters and spirits so the Halloween special has to kind of do something REALLY different to kind of sell me. The first two shorts did just that, the third seemed rather TOO familiar.
