REVIEW: CHOZEN “DA DIRECTOR”

Warning Spoilers Below Braj

Am I the only person watching this show? It sure feels like it – are people really turning off their TVs right after Archer? Damn son, people need to give this show a fair shake.

Let me keep it all the way real, I enjoy Chozen – I find the satire to be accurate, I think the humor is well crafted, and I like the off beat character dialogue. That being said, I’m not like – head over heels “everyone needs to watch this immediately or im going to stab you in your sleep with a sharpened Hello Kitty pencil” like I was with other gems I’ve psuedo-stumbled upon (like Workaholics for example, that I’m currently grossly obsessed with). That being said about that being said, I have been recommending people give it a watch every chance its mentioned (or Archer is mentioned) because it is not terrible – and I like not terrible. It’s definitely worth a watch.

I think the Archer team will really need to like, help out Chozen in terms of advertising for this show to gain the eyes it really needs – give them a little of the “you know us, we like this – you should like this, so just don’t turn off your TV when our show ends” type jazz. Just my 2 cents Bro Namath.

So this episode, lets talk shop.

Although fairly consistent with humor and making me actually cringe (twice, I believe) – this was the least hilarious of the series so far. It’s not bad, it’s just not a giant gut buster. “Giant gut buster” … that… that sounds like a big ole dong. That sounds like something Chozen would describe a big ole dong as.

MVP this episode goes to Michael Peña, who plays Ricky, that boy is funny. He’s always good but this time ’round he had some real good line deliveries that I was proud of for him. WE DID IT MAN, WE DID IT AS A TEAM.

Plot? You want some plot? Chozen enlists his sister to help him make a music video for a contest held by a “we couldn’t actually use its real name” version of WorldStarHipHop. This is where all the satire goes down. Deep down we are all terrible and want to see girls fist fighting – that’s just true, WorldStar was just smart enough to capitalize on it (despite probably encouraging us to be more depraved). AND THEN A GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL.

I hope next week they get real weird with it again.
