Ratings Report 11/23: FOX’s AniDom Ratings Success Extends To Tubi’s The Freak Brothers ; New Clip For “The Great North”

Tubi announced the premiere episode of its first-ever original animated series, THE FREAK BROTHERS, delivered the platform’s most-watched episode, ranking #1 in total viewing time (TVT) since it launched on Sunday on FOX Entertainment’s free streaming service. Additionally, THE FREAK BROTHERS, based on the cult classic underground comic series, delivered +80% more viewers than the #2 series on the platform.

Featuring an all-star voice cast, including Woody Harrelson, John Goodman, Tiffany Haddish and Pete Davidson, THE FREAK BROTHERS will begin streaming its next new episode on the platform on Sunday, Nov. 28th. The animated series is produced by WTG Enterprises and distributed by global content leader Lionsgate.

THE FREAK BROTHERS headlines Tubi’s first foray into adult animation, as it expands its adult comedy collection in the coming months. The additional episodes from Season One will drop on Sundays, one every week, through the finale, Sunday, Dec. 26. The eight-episode series chronicles the escapades of a trio of stoner anti-establishment characters and their cat who wake up from a 50-year nap after smoking a magical strain of weed in 1969, and must adjust to life with a new family in present-day San Francisco.

THE FREAK BROTHERS is executive-produced by Courtney Solomon (“AFTER,” “Mr. Church,” Cake”) and Mark Canton (STARZ’s “POWER UNIVERSE,” “300,” “Den of Thieves”), along with award-winning producers Alan Cohen and Alan Freedland (“King of the Hill,” “American Dad”). Woody Harrelson, Tiffany Haddish, Pete Davidson, Adam Devine, Blake Anderson, Gilbert Shelton and Manfred Mroczkowski also serve as executive producers on the series.

Fans can visit “THE FREAK BROTHERS Experience” at San Diego Bayfront Park, in front of the Hilton Bayfront Hotel, beside Hall H, for a little recharge and relaxation. We’ll have music from our own curated THE FREAK BROTHERS Spotify playlist and charging stations at our lounge area in front of the 42-foot “The FREAK-A-FIED Bus.” We’ll also have a dynamic photo backdrop with the cast of THE FREAK BROTHERS for a fun photo opp, once those phones are juiced up. Our “FREAK BROTHERS” team on the ground will also be giving away four (4) different character collectible mini-posters of guys and Kitty, as well as THE FREAK BROTHERS mint tins.

At THE FREAK BROTHERS Experience, fans also can become FREAK-A-FIED themselves, through an Instagram AR lens filter. With a raise of their eyebrows, the filter will be activated and will warp their eyes and lower their voice to fit the lifestyle of THE FREAK BROTHERS. This same experience debuted in downtown LA.

This news follows last month’s news from FOX that notes that the return of The Simpsons ranked as the #1 program (tied with FOX’s drama 9-1-1) in Live + 7 Day ratings for the week of October 4, marking the first time it has been the top-rated entertainment series in nearly seven years. THE GREAT NORTH delivered its highest-rated episode ever that week as well, to go along with ratings highs for Bob’s Burgers and Family Guy, both of which have also seen highs. After a ratings decrease from the departure of Family Guy, Adult Swim decided to bring back King of the Hill for syndication starting this past Monday night, so clearly, adult animation is winning on a number of different fronts.

This Sunday night is all-new for FOX and includes the final new episode of The Great North for what’s been a pretty successful 2021 and it features the return of JK Simmons (Spider-Man) as “Tusk Johnson”. In the episode entitled “From Tusk Til Dawn Adventure”, former celebrity mountain man, Tusk Johnson, returns to Lone Moose with a big favor to ask of Beef and Wolf. Meanwhile, Honeybee enters a contest to win her own mall kiosk. A new episode of THE GREAT NORTH kicks off Sunday, Nov. 28 (8:31-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. Watch an exclusive clip below:
