FOX/FX and Adult Swim ready themselves for Battle!

Starting next Monday Night, fans of animated comedy are going to be the winners because both FOX/FX AND Adult Swim are offering content but at the same time slots. Yep…never thought you’d hear that, right? Animated Comedy has become such a big business that networks are having to air on similar time slots. It used to be that you could give yourself a decent schedule over the course of the week, but now with the Winter 2014 Season in Full Swing it’s time to make some choices. Let’s get down and dirty with the different options we have coming up in the next few weeks:

Mondays starting January 13th @ 10: 30 pm EST

CHOZEN

Vs

Rick and Morty

On one hand we have a brand-new animated series coming to FX this Monday Night @ 10:30 pm EST called Chozen, starring Bobby Moynihan in the leading role as well as big-time names like Nick Swardson, Method Man, and Danny McBride. On the other hand, we have the best animated series of 2013, Rick and Morty. Both shows are very good and deserve a watching, however which show you decide to ultimately watch may depend on your personality. For those that prefer the more pop culture-type of a series with hysterically written songs and a stellar cast may go with Chozen, however fans of sci-fi are definitely going to want to watch Rick and Morty as each episode has not only been hysterical, but each one feels like a different high-octane adventure. From killer attack dog-bots to exploring the inner workings of a homeless dude, Rick and Morty doesn’t seem to run out of crazy ideas for adventures for our fabled heroes Rick and Morty. Throw in the fact that you have Chris Parnell, Sarah Chalke, and the multi-talented Justin Roiland, and you have just a good as cast as any!

Saturday Nights @ 11:30 pm EST

FOX’s ADHD

vs

Adult Swim’s Toonami

spacedandy

This one gets a bit more interesting, and already you can see both networks starting to feel each other out. Adult Swim has recently premiered a brand-new series called Super Dandy that almost works like a more outlandish and sillier-space version of Archer. This guy goes from planet to planet with his side kicks all the while kicking the shit out of aliens. The series premiered this past Saturday Night @ 11:30 pm EST and from the looks of it will have a brand-new episode on the 18th. FOX is getting ready to plunker down TWO new animated shows in Golan the Insatiable and Lucas Bros. Moving Company starting at 11pm EST on FOX THIS Saturday Night. However, our issues here are two-fold. 1) ADHD gets pre-empted in a lot of markets because of sports/news, etc and 2) Animation Domination HD typically shows off a bunch of new animated shorts during the 11 pm hour, so what are you going to do? Also, FOX likes to sometimes do back-to-back new episodes of shows on Saturday Nights and have done so in the past with Axe Cop and High School USA!, so could the earlier scheduling of Toonami affect this?

Thankfully, you have a few more options here. For starters, the FOX ADHD original programming usually gets posted up on FOXADHD.com for anyone that wants to kick off their Sunday Morning watching cartoons. Also, a lot of the shorts that get played on the FOX Saturday Night block are already on the ADHD Youtube channel for you to check out whenever. Also, just like before, what you watch is going to depend on taste. Lucas Bros. is definitely for fans of Regular Show/Beavis and Butthead who just love seeing the main characters get into some funky shit. Golan the Insatiable is a similar audience, but if you are a fan of monsters just making a mess of things, then Golan is for you. Space Dandy, has certainly a more sex-influenced humor akin to say Archer and with fight scenes that are indicative for anime. It COULD serve the aforementioned Rick and Morty fan base, but really is for those who prefer more high-octane fights mixed with constant talks of boobage.

Overall, FOX/FX and Adult Swim both have storied histories for animated comedy and both are betting on new franchises to help kick off the new year. So, let us know in the comments below what YOU want to watch!
