English Dub Review: The Dungeon of Black Company “Return to Work”

Overview

Kinji meets the Demon Lord and learns the truth behind this world, its problems, and how he ended up getting involved. He is given a choice – save the world, or return to his home in Japan…

Our Take

So we now know who’s responsible for who Isekai’ed Kinji ass into a fantasy world, after his time-travel experience showed him the potential end of the world with his own eyes, and now has the duty of saving it from such a fate. In exchange for such a herculean task, his reward is that they can also send him back to Japan, simple enough I guess. The catch is that Raiza’ha has magically infused some race’s intelligence and cloned that entirely into the company, so now everything that Kinji and circle of allies. has encountered with the mechs now adds up. The only thing to do now is for Kinji to make a choice: go back to Japan or save the fantasy world of Raiza’ha’s crappy craziness.

It’s also good to see Shia and Wanibe again. Glad they took Ranga back to the past with them as well which I’m guessing makes Kinji’s circle feel complete I guess. Also, the twist on who the Demon Lord has ties with was pretty unexpected but it’s interesting, to say the least.

Overall, this was a fun episode that mostly served as an exposition dump and gives us higher stakes to worry about. Hopefully, this won’t be the last time we see the demon lord when Kinji encounters her again…
