Overview

Marriage of Count Fernand Maistre, a prestigious French aristocrat. Lupin aims at the traditional jewel “Tear of Marseille” that is given to the bride at the wedding ceremony. However, when Jigen saw the bride, he had a different expression on his face…

Our Take

This time around we have a Jigen-focused episode guest written by Akira Kindaichi who has a small but decent track record of anime episodes under his belt (including a few from “Takt: Op Destiny“), It’s clear that much like Lupin, even Jigen had his share of ladies fawning over him and one of them in the past just so happened to save his life.

Of course, complications begin to pile up when going to the wedding due to a series of potential obstacles possibly fucking it up and this isn’t counting Lupin’s attempt to steal the jewel either which made the proceedings both suspenseful and at times bittersweet…

Overall, this was both wholesome and heart-wrenching at the same time. While the story was pretty simple and straightforward, getting even a tiny glimpse into the heart and mind of Jigen is very powerful. Arguably, there was no way the gunman Jigen was going to get a happy ending and he’s already married to the pistol. It’s almost a love/hate relationship with or without being part of Lupin’s circle…
