English Dub Review: Kaguya-sama: Love is War “Nagisa Kashiwagi Wants to Kill / Maki Shijo Wants to Take Action / Miyuki Shirogane Wants to Be Believed”

Overview:

Shirogane accidentally steps on Maki Shijo, a female student who had collapsed on campus and takes care of her in the student council room. Apparently, she has suffered from the sorrows of love. When Maki discusses her situation with him, her expression changes from high-spirited, to anxious, to explosively angry, to tearful. After witnessing such an intense range of human emotion, for some reason, Shirogane was struck by a strong sense of déjà vu. What on earth was this feeling?

Our Take:

Clifford Chapin is filling in amazingly well for Aaron Dismuke. If you had any doubts then this episode would have sealed it for you. Everyone in the episode did well as per usual but I swear I was cracking up at more of his lines than any of the others. His delivery was on-point, I hope he gets more comedy roles. I shouldn’t be surprised I loved him in Hensuki.

I could not stop laughing during this episode in fact I feel like I was starting to annoy my roommate. I’d just keep pointing at the screen and laughing. Honestly, the only negative thing I can ever say about Kaguya-sama is that the romantic progression is soooo slow but that is just how this genre tends to be. But there will hopefully be some payoff soon.
