Cassandra Peterson Planning ‘Elvira’ Cartoon

Elvira 2

Oh, Elvira, I have always adored you – beginning at entirely too young of an age. And as an adult the appreciation is even greater, as I can now properly appreciate your perfect pair. That’s right, there’s nothing that I love more than big laughs paired with big scares.

What? Did you think I was about to go all misogynistic? Not a chance, as I would never want to offend the beautiful and iconic Mistress of the Dark, who also calls herself a “super staunch feminist.” Besides, my fiancée drools over Elvira enough for the both of us.

Though I don’t think Cassandra Peterson (a.k.a. Elvira) would mind, considering she recently told a Boston Comic-Con 2015 crowd that she passed on a then-unknown Brad Pitt for a role in her 1988 Elvira film for being too attractive. She did, however, jot down “yum yum” in her notes.

She is full of anecdotes such as this, like unsuccessfully helping a young Hilary Swank start her career, and then running into her years later at a gym and asking how things turned out. Swank, unbeknownst to Peterson, had won a Best Actress Oscar in the meantime.

But the big news, as far as we’re concerned, was the announcement that an Elvira cartoon series is in the works, which will apparently be aimed at the Adult Swim crowd.

Unfortunately, the questions about the show were limited, as Peterson spent most of her panel’s time regaling fans with additional tales, talking about her work-in-progress autobiography and desire to do another comic book, cracking jokes, and addressing the endless questions about her famous chest with confident delight, making sure to leave a positive message for women, stressing that “Just because you look sexy … you don’t have to be a bimbo. You don’t have to look like Margaret Thatcher to be a strong woman. Sorry, Margaret Thatcher!”
