BONGO COMICS REVIEW: SIMPSONS COMICS CONFIDENTIAL TP

A TALE OF 2 PEN PALS

Lisa and Bart start writing to different pen pals in a far off destitute country and their purposes for doing so couldn’t be more different. Lisa wants to use the experience to maybe make a positive impact in someone else’s life while Bart wants to teach his pen pal how to umm be Bart Simpson! As expected, Bart’s pen pal aka Khazgulah definitely learns a thing or two from his mentor Bart, where as it looks like Lisa’s pen pal Salucca legitimately tries to make a difference in her community by writing to the President of the USA in order to get funding for a bridge connecting her home town to that of a near by one with promises of prosperity and new jobs at a TiVo workhouse. However, turns out the bridge just combines two towns into one large poor town and together with the destructive Khazgulah, Salucca decides to go to Springfield to exact revenge!

FEUD, GLORIOUS FEUD

Ned gets treated by a dirty needle so after coming out of a drug induced coma he decides to leave town with his kids to go on a cross country expedition. To help watch over his house Ned decides to invite Cletus and his family to stay and take care of things for him while he’s gone. This sets off a feud between Homer and Cletus where they regularly are exchanging a rampant amount of paint ball gun fire to the point where Homer even gets hippies living on his lawn! Strange enough, Cletus’ son G-bert starts to take a likin’ to Lisa as they both try to talk their families out of this silly feud. After doing a bit of research, Lisa finds out that both families are distant cousins, and Cletus mentions a redneck rule where family aren’t allowed to fight. This resolves the feud between the Simpsons and the Spucklers…that is until Ned comes home!

THE SIMPSONS AU NATUREL

Homer decides to take his family camping into the woods. However, when Homer went to go book the trip he really didn’t have much cash so he takes the family to a camp where everyone is naked! That’s right, Martin, Dr. Hibbert, and soon all the Simpsons clan strip in the name of nature. The girls are a little weirded out by it but Homer loves it, that is until Patti and Selma show up.

THE RETURN OF XT’TAPALATAKETTLE

Homer has a habit of getting up in the middle of the night and seeing weird things when he’s eating salami. Turns out one of those are real, as apparently there was a guy living in the Olmec Indian head that Mr. Burns got them as a gift and he’s an ancient Aztek warrior sent to find an apparent successor to take up the mantle of one of the deities that he worships. The warrior chooses Bart and the crazy guy won’t leave without him. That is until Mr. Burns shows up with a check to help ship his ass out of town so this way he can keep the title of ‘oldest man in Springfield’. Meanwhile, Homer believes he is dreaming and as such he is running all over town hitting up stops like the Duff Brewery, the Power Plant, and more until finally he shakes out of it…or does he?

MARGE SIMPSON LIVING

When Homer gets fired from his job at the plant, Marge opens up a catering business much to the chagrin of Mindy Morehouse and her own catering business. Soon, Marge gets her first client with Ranier Wolfcastle holding a party with a celeb list featuring the who’s who of Springfield. However, everything goes sour when people at the party start getting sick over Marge’s food nearly killing Mr. Burns. Thankfully, Bart had video taped footage of Mindy poisoning Marge’s food and hence Mindy gets taken away. Also, Homer gives mouth to mouth to Burns which brings him back to life with Homer’s old job in tow.

I always like it when Bongo goes down memory lane and brings back some relics for both new fans and old ones to enjoy and this quarter has a bunch of great stories to keep people entertained for a while From back to back stories about Homer running around naked, to the paintball wars with Cletus, and Marge, Lisa, and Bart showing their creative talents for no other good reason then personal gain, this was a great read and should make a valid addition to everyone’s collection or better yet a great way for new fans to discover classic tales.
