Review: Regular Show ”Eileen Flat Screen”

Spoilers Below:

Eileen wins a flat screen TV for placing first in a contest and Rigby offers to install it for her. Mordecai and CJ help and we learn more about Eileen’s living situation, which includes an asshole roommate named JoAnn. As the crew are trying to fix the TV, Rigby decides to take it for a test drive, but when he tries to move the socket to try it out, JoAnn flips out and steals Eileen’s TV. In retaliation, Eileen takes JoAnn’s TV, and a car chase ensues. The chase ends on a bridge, and JoAnn throws Eileen’s TV off of it. Rigby catches it, but JoAnn’s TV falls off and smashes it. We find out that JoAnn is the heir to the company that manufactures her TV, her family makes her move out of Eileen’s apartment, and the lawyer explains everything. Eileen comes home and loves her new TV, but what comes ON the TV is a shock!

Oh man, oh man, oh man. I’m not going to spoil it, but the cameo that happens at the end sets up what could be one hell of a season for Regular Show. Until then, we really did get the best episode of the year, and while it’s sad that Regular Show seems to be modernizing (and thereby eschewing past staples like Laserdiscs and arcade joysticks in favor of flat screen TVs) there was just so much awesome going on this week, that for the first time this season, I’m genuinely excited about the future of the series. The questions that arose in this episode (Will Rigby and Eileen be a pair? Is someone going to take JoAnn’s spot?) and the cameo lead into to what should be an awesome next couple of weeks.
