Starz Distro might be for sale (why this matters to you!)

According to Deadline.com, Starz Distribution might be for sale and that companies like CBS, Disney, Fox, and Time Warner and even DirecTV, Dish Network, Charter, AT&T and Verizon might try and take a stab at purchasing the company. Why does this matter?

Starz is the majority owner of Film Roman, aka the production company that makes The Simpsons. Starz is also in the midst of developing original animated content such as Camp WWE and is responsible for the Youtube Channel Union Pool through their subsidiary Starz Digital Media. This means that if there were any potential buyout, decisions could be made on the futures of original content by people not currently employed by Starz, but would be if a purchase would happen.

Obviously, the talk of any sale is purely speculative right now and may not even happen this year, but it’s certainly something to keep in the back of your mind if you are currently producing animated content and shopping it to networks.
