Blu-Ray Review: Red vs Blue Season 11

Red vs Blue is an interesting, but usually valuable case when it comes to home releases. Typically when you get home releases for entire seasons of show, you always have the alternative option of purchasing the episodes on say Amazon or iTunes, but this show you really only have the RoosterTeeth.com option which yes, is free, but is a pain in the ass if you want to watch it on the big screen. And who doesn’t love seeing the Sarge on a big fucking screen? You can either purchase the RVB Season 11 movie on Amazon for $15, or just get it in stores at Walmart for just a tick more, but either way this is a can’t miss Season.

But, I’m not here to give you a season review, Gonzo will have that soon. I’m here to tell you that the Red vs Blue Season 11 home release should be on your X-mas list because along with the awesome thrill ride that is the longest-running online franchise you get a rather kick ass featurette featuring the cast and crew as well as episode commentaries. There’s a bunch of trailers on the disc too, but those you can see on Youtube, the real gravy is the insight from the guys who make Red vs Blue and more so when you hear decisions being made in the writer’s room as well as the switch from CG to the way cooler machinima look that Rooster Teeth pretty has patented by now.

Red vs Blue Season 11 is also perfect for a newbie fan wanting to get in on the action because although there are lines dropped here and there referencing earlier seasons, there are so many new story lines to be had this season and really you are getting a launch pad for Seasons 12 and 13 anyway, so this is as good as time as any to experience Rooster Teeth’s flagship series. Even if the special features can use a bit more bulk, this is a great buy.
