English Dub Review: Girlfriend, Girlfriend “Her Resolve, and Then”

Overview

Shino and Naoya are stranded on an uninhabited island, and Shino has ended up naked again. Has the time finally come for Shino to confess her feelings? Meanwhile, Saki and the others have realized that Naoya and Shino are missing.

Our Take

Naoya and Shino find themselves stranded on a deserted island across Okinawa. And after a series of events, (including an impulsive kiss) Shino attempts to confess her true feelings, but ultimately collapses with a fever at nearly every turn. Despite these setbacks, Naoya is pretty ballsy in displaying some impulsive bravery by carrying Shino and swimming back to the Okinawa mainland when she suffers from a heat stroke the next day.

You’d think after all of this, Shino would have a chance to reveal her feelings, but then, Saki discovers them on the island, and Shino even witnesses Saki’s first kiss. This revelation prompts a bittersweet moment that adds quite a conundrum for her after seeing Saki’s reaction to missing Naoya, And consequently causes Shino to reevaluate her situation and make a life-changing decision…

Overall, this was one hell of an episode. Looking beyond the low-brow awkward nudity jokes, Naoya’s herculean task of saving Shino was quite admirable. Yet the decision Shino is making seemed kinda out of left field. Ironically Shino got what she wanted in having the two kiss since most of the past episodes were spent on her egging Saki to make a move. But now after failing to make a move herself, I guess Shino wants to cut her losses because she believes this is the best way not to fuck with whatever Naoya and Saki have going on, despite this being a mini-harem of sorts. With one episode left, it’ll be interesting to see how this will wrap up.
