English Dub Review: Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury “The Cursed Mobile Suit”
Overview:
Victory comes with a busload of problems for Suletta, and the only way out is a rematch. Turns out, she is being suspected of using a prohibited tech to operate her mobile suit.
Our Take:
This is just like sports, when one team wins too easily, committees want to come in and change all the rules. Suletta defeated Guel handily but because her mobile suit might be a “Gundam” (Hint it probably is) her victory has been disqualified. What boggles my mind is how Lady Prospera (the head of Shin Sei Development Corporation) managed to make it without any oversight.
I’m also convinced Prospera is Elnora Samaya from the prologue. It’s no spoiler to say because we haven’t had confirmation on that whole event. But given her name and how Gundam stories usually go I would bet money on this becoming a revenge story sooner or later.
The animation is still fantastically beautiful and we are just getting started with the story setup. The school setting is kind of new for a Gundam series but I think it could be cool. Be warned though if you’re new to the series this will get bloody before too long. This series likes to show the horrors of war in one way or another.
Do we know if Hulu will be the only entity to have the dub, or if it will be on other platforms, too? The show in general is definitely going to be on multiple platforms.
