Paley Center brings the funny to NY Comedy festival with a first-look Archer screening.

You guys are gonna be so jealous…why? Well, I got to see the premier episode of Archer. Get a rundown of what happened plus a bit about the Season 3 premier coming this January to FX!

Some Spoilers below! So, as I told you guys last week, I went on over to the Archer panel @ the Paley Center in NYC. This was my first time going to the Paley Center in person(I’ve watched specials on Hulu.com for the Paley Center, but that’s it) and I gotta say the venue looked great, and would love to go back for some sort of tour of the building.
In any case, the panel was being moderated by the great David Cross, and featured cast and crew from Archer including creator Adam Reed and stars Jon Benjamin, Amber Nash, and Chris Parnell.  You guys wanna know what to expect this upcoming season of Archer? Well, that makes two of us, but between Amber and David Cross I now know more about Atlanta, GA than you do. Yep, that’s right. I’ve actually never been to Atlanta, however I always wanted to, but i think that’s what was the majority of what the panel talked about…so much so that Jon just got up and left to go to the control room and just hang out there for about 20 minutes. Thankfully, he did come back, only to pick up his hooded sweatshirt. Luckily, we had David spring into action to go get Jon back and rejoin the panel in time for audience questions.  Overall, the panel was off the walls funny, and David might be the best at this because he did the same type of thing at NYCC but was I thought better because this room had more of a standup-room feel to it, and there are few people that know how to work a room better than David. If you don’t believe me, go on Netflix and find “Bigger and Blackerer” then prepare to wet your pants.

What the audience DID get, was a preview screening of the January premier of Archer featuring Burt Reynolds! While watching it(except for maybe David Cross who probably fell asleep) the entire audience was out of control laughing. In this episode Burt Reynolds is in town and we find out he’s dating Malory, of which Archer does NOT approve so he has to go and try and ruin the relationship before it gets serious. Did I mention throughout this whole ordeal, he has a Cuban hit squad gunning for him? Yep…and they embark on one of the wildest car chases in animation history(seriously I can’t remember one that was so well done). I actually don’t now how you do a car chase and somehow make it hysterically funny…it’s not often, but these guys pull it off. After watching the episode I could only think of one thing…I HOPE BURT REYNOLDS COMES BACK! But, that’s what Adam Reed does best because the dialogue between Archer and Burt Reynolds is incredible not unlike the Emmy-worthy back and forth between Sterling and Rip that we saw in the “Special Assignment” mini-series.

I’ll give you guys the full recap of the first episode after the premier airs…in January 2012. Don’t worry it’s DEFINITELY worth the wait!
