Disney+ Announces New Short For “The Simpsons” Set To Premiere On September 8th

The 34th season of The Simpsons is nearly upon us and we’ve already got a lot to look forward to. As Matt Selman continues on his digital press tour for a shot at the Emmy for the episode “Pixelated and Afraid”, , the long time producer for the Emmy-winning series has been slowly spilling the beans on a number of new items. Melissa McCarthy guest stars as a kid who is expected to challenge Homer for Grandpa’s affection, a concept episode that explains how The Simpsons can predict the future, Simu Liu is coming in to voice a potential love interest for Lisa, and TWO Treehouse of Halloween episodes, one that feature a Death Note-esque parody of It. We can also expect Homer to hunt down a missing turtle and Krusty going nuts at work, so we’ve got a lot coming down the pike.

Fortunately, we won’t have to wait until Sept 25th for a new iteration of The Simpsons, as Disney+ has just announced that a new short entitled “Welcome to the Club” is slated to arrive on September 8th and will see Lisa whose heart is set on becoming a princess, only for her to learn the joys of being bad potentially being more fun.

Disney+ is slowly building up some good adult animation. For starters, the upcoming season of Star Wars: Vision will apparently move slightly away from just Japanese studios doing shorts, but also studios from Africa, Chile, England, Ireland, France, and India while producers from Marvel’s What If? series promise a “wilder” second season.

With rumors going around that Disney+ might be getting into anime acquisitions, The Simpsons are going to have some good company soon.
