English Dub Review: The Heike Story “City Transition”

Overview:

Kiyomori moves the capital to Fukuhara, a new figure moves against the Heike, and Koremori is charged with leading the counterattack.

Our Take:

Imagine the American government just saying “Yeah we’re moving the capital” just for no reason. That would be a wild time but that is exactly what the Heike do. They do this because Fukuhara is more defensible than the current capital. Which honestly makes sense to me. Still a crazy thing to do but when you got rebellions and stuff to worry about I guess I can see why they would make that decision.

Biwa is so fascinating to me even down to just her design. She has two differently colored eyes, rosy cheeks, and is rather short. She is constantly picked on by one of the members of the family but I feel like that is because he has a crush on her. You know what they say about crushes and stuff.

The Heike Story is based on a book and if I had to guess it’s probably “The Tale of Heike” which is one of those stories that is non-fiction with some fiction thrown in. Honestly other than Biwa seeing the future from time to time it plays out like something educational. I really like the storytelling and animation in this one.
