Overview (Spoilers Below):

Parker, Angus, and Russell attempt to save Christmas when Santa gets injured during a stop on Mount Middlemost.

Our Take:

We’re going to need a lot of boxes for this delivery, folks. After churning out an enjoyably scary episode back in October, Nickelodeon’s newest original series is back to deliver a package full of holiday cheer. It’s no surprise that I was pleased with Middlemost Post so far. The characters are likable, the comedy was humorous, and the stories were suitably entertaining. It’s the type of show that I would like to see gain more traction in the future. Hopefully, it won’t get canceled quickly to make room for more SpongeBob and Loud House.

Like The Patrick Star ShowMiddlemost Post is celebrating its first Christmas-themed episode that spreads both comedy and joy this holiday season. Additionally, it is the first half-hour special of the series, so there’s a lot riding on this one. Middlemost Post has been working well with its 10-minute episodes, but does it also work well as a half-hour episode? The short answer to that is a yes.

The special emphasizes the show’s mail delivery aspect, which is briefly shown in some of its previous episodes. With a holiday twist added in for good measure, the episode gleefully puts the characters’ mail-delivering skills to the test, from going down the chimneys to consuming every cookie and milk in town. It offered a charismatic and entertaining delivery route that injects holiday cheer in its humor and the characters.

The real heart of the story centers on Angus and his holly jolly brother Santa Claus, voiced by Rob Riggle. Angus has grown jealous of Santa’s good nature over the years and doesn’t like being in his shadow. When he accidentally injures Santa before his departure, Angus is forced to literally step into his shoes and take over his yuletide duties. The episode reflects the two characters rekindling their brotherhood amid Angus’s rule-breaking and Santa’s fake injury. This formulaic yet suitably heartfelt element saw two brothers learning to accept their differences on Christmas.

Some of the episode’s jokes were just as festive as Parker’s Christmas spirit, including its GOAT references. However, the most amusing part of the episode is how it made Ryan the scheming character rather than Mayor Peeve. While Peeve complains about having his birthday on the same day as Christmas, Ryan plots to capture Santa Claus but wound up kidnapping him and Angus instead. It’s an interesting change of pace for the character that happens to be pretty effective regarding Ryan’s humor.

Overall, “Parker Saves Christmas” is a joyful holiday special that matches the show’s comedy and heart. While predictable in some places, the episode is a lovely package that’s wrapped up nicely with a bow. It also showcases that the series is capable of providing more half-hour adventures in Mount Middlemost in the future, holiday-related or something even more exciting.
