English Dub Review: Cells at Work: Code Black “Return, the Heart, and Demise”

Overview:

RBC goes back to work and everyone is glad to have him back. He travels with one of the rookies to the stomach. This was where his friend dies so he panics a bit but makes it through. So many blood clots have formed that the heart is no longer working. What is going to happen to RBC and everyone in the body?

Our Take:

One more episode is left after this one and things are not looking great for the cells of this body. RBC finally went back to work and then more awful things happen. I’ve never had a job THAT bad but at least he was told he doesn’t have to work anymore. Unfortunately, in this case, he doesn’t have to work anymore cause they’re all about to die.

All of that development that RBC has been building for the last eleven episodes is going to need to be cashed in. Sure this is a team effort and it will take more than just him to fix what’s going on but he is the main character. I am honestly having a hard time seeing them pull this one-off. Seems like medicine or something similar is always bailing them out. About forty to fifty percent of heart attacks are fatal so that isn’t a good sign for everyone.

Another week and nothing new from WBC, she shows up here and there but that’s about it. For someone who is listed as the other main character she sure doesn’t get much screentime or development. I am interested to see how they get out of this situation so maybe I will be surprised next episode.

I am both looking forward to the season finale and also kind of dreading it. I want to see how this ends and if it can finish strong. It had a very good beginning and decent middle but the last few episodes have just fallen flat for me. The voice acting has been good. Kyle McCarley delivers as RBC and Allegra Clark does well as WBC but other than Kyle no one has really got a chance to shine. I will see you all at the finale and more than likely this body is toast.
