English Dub Review: IS IT WRONG TO TRY TO PICK UP GIRLS IN A DUNGEON? II “Barbara”

Overview (Spoilers Below)

Bell and Mikoto have to infiltrate the compound run by the Ishtar family who wants to sacrifice Haruhime. Quite frankly, Haruhime seems perfectly fine with being killed because she’s a super-depressed prostitute who has lost all self-worth so she isn’t exactly running for the exits. Mikoto appears to have had to sacrifice herself in the process of saving Haruhime, so can Bell finish the job? We’ll find out next week!

Our Take

IS IT WRONG TO TRY TO PICK UP GIRLS IN A DUNGEON? II continues a strong second season with an enthralling sequence of events that should leave viewers shocked in more than a few ways. For starters, series eschews the typical “Mario saves a hopeful Princess” dynamic in favor of a “the Princess has no interest in being saved and you should just leave her”. It’s not something that is commonly seen in any medium, much less a cliched anime subgenre, which possibly makes this one of HiDive’s more ambitious efforts. We got ourselves a simple premise, it’s the delivery that’s most satisfying. With only a couple of episodes left, I’m excited to see how this one ends.
