The history teacher Mr. Vanover for the school doubles as the basketball coach which of course means he isn’t very good so he quits on the spot leading Crash to take the reigns.  Weird thing is Crash comes up with all of the unimportant stuff that comes with being a coach, like instead of drills we get dance lessons, instead of plays we get a bunch of hand shake drills, so on and so forth. To try and get down to business, Wyatt tries to teach his brother all about the wonderful sport that is basketball but the only tips Crash reads are the fashion tips ala Pat Riley, telling his team to run wind sprints, and blasting his whistle! On game day Crash hires what looks to be a pro ball player which sends Wyatt to the bench and the rest of the players on the floor which of course works and leads Wyatt’s team to victory.  However, the kids are kind of pissed that Crash’s coaching stinks and the team decides to vote against him despite the fact that the new coach is undefeated. Later, Mel catches up with Crash at the arcade and together they ask Vanover for help who also happens to be there. Basically, Mel teaches Crash to be more constructive with his criticism as that leads to positive reinforcement but that only lasts for so long and the teacher leaves home in disgust.

Cleo wants a part of Crash’s basketball team and as such offers to design the uniforms and decides to hire Amanda to help out but after a less than flattering recommendation from her mother, she gets the boot as does Pesto’s chances with Amanda.  Cleo eventually becomes the play by play where she introduces the new uniforms while Crash decides to rejoin the team in time to deploy ‘the move’ which sends the team to losery.

One of the real strong characters for this series is Mel, who usually comes on as the person trying to be the mother who does the right thing, and instead just kind of ends up being one of the kids. It happened last week, and it happened this week and its pretty comical. Cleo’s plot seemed somewhat patched together, but the main storyline was pretty funny showing the morals of team work and positive coaching despite losing. That said, someone should tell Pesto to NOT wear a collared rolled up sleeved shirt next time he plays basketball.
