Kevin Smith, Dan Aykroyd, And Kim Bassinger Are “Getting Lost” In New R-Rated Animated Film Now In Production

Kevin Smith is in the midst of a press tour for his latest movie The 4:30 Movie which was filmed in my home town of Atlantic Highlands, NJ. Most of the e-tailers have the feature-length available for purchase but that’s not the last we’re going to hear from Kevin because the director is back in the voice booth for a new R-rated animated feature film called Getting Lost.

Being directed by Mike Malinkowski, the upcoming film features a stacked cast thus far including Kim Bassinger (Batman), Dan Aykroyd (Ghostbusters), and the aforementioned Smith (Clerks). The story details are somewhat tight-lipped right now but Aykroyd is a wilderness explorer named Bob Catts who takes his nephew Bill (voiced by Smith) into a violent, bloody battle with mother nature. Bassinger is a network executive which has me thinking Catts is probably the host of one of those nature TV shows you see on NatGeo.

The news comes as adult animated comedy in film is starting to kick up in business here with the likes of Genndy Tartakovsky working with Sony on selling two R-rated animated comedies for theaters in the form of Fixed which was shelved by Warner Bros. earlier this year though the director says that Sony is still shopping it as we speak and isn’t dead by any means and Black Knight which has a finished script and is currently being shopped by Sony for some sort of co-prod and release to come sometime in the future.

Kevin Smith is a bit of an adult animation aficionado himself, having created Netflix’s excellent Masters of the Universe reboot, an animated adaptation of Clerks, and Jay & Silent Bob’s Super Groovy Cartoon Movie!.
