English Dub Review: True Beauty “So what If I like her?”

Overview (Spoilers Below): After a successful first mission, Jugyeong decides to relax and help Seojun with his part-time job at a festival. Everything is going well until Suho shows up, and a small plushie ignites a fierce battle between the two boys.

Our Take: If you couldn’t tell, Jugyeong’s last-minute dance video was a smashing hit, which is good enough for her to stay in the competition.  But, of course, with two missions remaining, it’s still the least of Jugyeong’s problems, especially when Suho and Seojun are still stuck in the past.  The issue arises at the festival, where Seojun asks Jugyeong to help him volunteer. When Suho arrives at the scene, he and Seojun butt heads once more for one childish reason: to win a cat plushie for Jugyeong.  If you’re like me, you would think it’s time for the boys to stop acting like children and move on.  However, as the episode progresses, we see that the tension may have been easing up a bit when Seojun and Suho talk about their feelings toward Jugyeong.  Unfortunately, this also results in Jugyeong being involved in a love triangle between the two, as I predicted from one of the earlier episodes. This is one of the episodes you’d typically see in a kids’ cartoon or sitcom.  You have the characters compete for something, only to find that all their hard work was for a misunderstanding.  In this case, Seojun and Suho thought Jugyeong wanted a plushie for herself, but it turns out that she was saying it to be nice to the young boy.  On the bright side, Seojun was able to rediscover his passion for singing, so it’s not a total loss.  It’s predictable, but its charm managed to elevate its familiar laid-back plot.
