OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)Sensei and company find themselves wrapped up in a war between a dwarven kingdom and the Fallen Angels of Greed and Misery.OUR TAKEThe final story arc of the season kicks off by finally bringing us back to the Fallen Angel other -worlders. It was already clear that we weren’t going to be able to cover beating them all in just twelve episodes, but I am glad we can potentially cross off two or even three of them by the end of this season, leaving a possible season two to be able to space out encountering the rest. Though the fight between the Fallen Angels is not the only thing happening in this story, as we also meet the pompous priest Wolff, who ends up accidentally destroying Sensei’s coffin, which immediately gets him off on the wrong foot with him, a mysterious old woman who has a strange connection to Wolff, and Wolff’s pet who looks like a white female version of Melos, the little flying mascot Sensei’s group carries around all the time. What, you don’t remember me mentioning Melos every single week and going off on multiple tangents about how he is my favorite character, not just in this show but in all of fiction? Well, to that I say you should really improve on your media literacy. Anyway, now he has a white gender swapped version a la How to Train Your Dragon 3 to prove he isn’t gay, which was probably a grave concern.Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention the Fallen Angels involved in this themselves. I suppose we’re letting go of the conventional seven deadly sins if we’re including Misery, who is a black armor clad warrior on a masked horse. Not the most original design choice, but it certainly gets the job done conveying he is a conqueror who clearly has a proficiency in strategy and tactics. The other relevant Fallen Angel, Greed, is a bit harder to pin down, as she looks like a typical japanese school girl but with soulless black eyes (so just like normal AHAHAHA) and has an odd connection to Wolff as well, which we will likely explore further in the remaining two episodes. Oh, and that scorpion gangster is back now but he’s reformed and gives people bus rides on his scorpions. All in all, this certainly works as a way to give us a solid milestone to end the first season on, hopefully culminating everything we’ve seen these characters learn and gain to defeat another major enemy, who might just gain redemption this time.
