English Dub Review: I Parry Everything “I Parry Deadly Poison”

By Marcus Gibson

Overview (Spoilers Below): The boy that Noor saved was born a “demon” with the power to control monsters.  Noor sees past that and recognizes his talents, but another threat lurks around the corner.

Our Take: Noor is either brave or stupid enough to protect a Demonfolk boy from a dragon capable of poisonous attacks.  Either way, there’s no denying his intentions were noble despite being poisoned a lot.  However, as it turns out, Noor has gained immunity to poison effects when he accidentally poisoned himself during his childhood.  This flashback explores more of Noor’s lifelong training besides his overreliance on parrying.  While he doesn’t give his other low-level skills enough credit, his buffs help Noor out of tight spots like the Black Death Dragon. This high tolerance gave Noor the advantage he needed to destroy the Black Death Dragon with his parrying, although he mistakes the boy, Rolo, for bringing the “frog” to the kingdom to sell as meat.  But in reality, Rolo has been constantly abused by other people due to being born a Demonfolk and is offered freedom if he brings the dragon to attack Lynne’s kingdom.  Instead of treating Rolo hastily like other people, Noor and the others allow him to tag along, as Noor believes Rolo’s abilities would help the kingdom. The episode further showcases Noor’s generosity towards others despite not being aware of the situation.  Fortunately, thanks to Noor’s kind heart, Rolo gains some self-worth in his demon-like abilities and even himself.  So, it’s safe to assume that we shouldn’t judge someone by race.  Unfortunately, the Black Death Dragon is now the least of Noor’s concerns due to the arrival of a mysterious stranger.
