Overview (Spoilers Below):

Will and the others fall into a dangerous region of the dungeon.  Separated from the others, Wignall reluctantly opens up to Will, sharing the source of his insecurities.  Meanwhile, two mages cloaked in dark magic appear before Colette and Lihanna.

Our Take:

As seen in the previous episode, the praxis hasn’t gotten to a great start.  Not only are the two villainous mages running amok, but Will and his team are also separated from each other following a battle gone wrong.  Will and Wignall are among the small groups who wind up in the dungeon’s lower levels, but as we see in this episode, getting separated is now the least of their concerns.

The episode shows that Wignall and Will have something in common: to become the Magia Vander and reunite with those closest to them.  With Will hoping to reunite with Elfaria, Wignall explains that he hopes to improve his magic to be with his childhood friend, Ellenor Ljos Alf.  However, Wignall has lost confidence in himself due to his illusion magic being inferior to the other elves, resulting in him being referred to as a “no-talent”.  As Will and Wignall bond over their common ground, Will helps him gain his confidence back by fighting off the Balkers, flaming monsters immune to physical attacks and magic spells.

This sequence is certainly one of the brighter moments of Wistoria because of Wignall.  Wignall lacks the confidence needed to improve his magic, fearing that he’ll make a mistake and cost someone their life.  However, Will points out that it’s okay to make mistakes, as they help us grow to become stronger and even better people.  This message can be on-the-nose, but when it works, it works pretty well, which is what “Our Dream” accomplished.
