English Dub Review: Why Does Nobody Remember Me in This World? “Heartless Angel”

Overview

Urza’s resistance, along with Reiren, confronts the Lord of the Heavens, Alfreya, who is attempting to subjugate the divine beings. However, Alfreya appears to possess powers that surpass even those of a hero.

Our Take

As the latest antagonist, Alfreya comes across as an arrogant dude, with quite the superiority complex. Kai, as expected, does not back down from this challenge, facing Alfreya head-on. The battle was intense, and Kai’s allies played a crucial role in helping him through what seemed to be one of his toughest fights yet. Despite some impressive moments, the pacing of the episode left much to be desired.

A lot of this episode took a disappointing turn when Kai, despite wielding a legendary sword, spent a significant amount of time standing still while his comrades did most of the muscle work. Consequently, the writing failed to justify this inaction, making the proceedings a bit frustrating to watch. At the very least, it had some interesting complex story ideas and concepts. But sadly they were poorly explained, and deserve proper clarity.

Overall, the slow progression of the plot is frustrating, especially when there’s so much potential for action and world-building. While the visuals and underlying story offer some appeal, it leaves more to be desired. Hopefully, the next episode will try to explain everything properly as Alfreya is now giving off “Final Boss” vibes with his new appearance…
