English Dub Review: Why Does Nobody Remember Me in This World? “Elven Forest”

Overview

Jeanne and Urza’s resistance encounters remnants of the Io resistance in the Elven Forest. Following the trail, they arrive at the Elf Village, where the leader of the elves is already waiting to present them with an offer they can’t refuse…

Our Take

Upon further exploring the Elven Forest it’s riddled with traps, making it difficult for Kai and his companions to navigate as they search for Qubirey, the celestial spy. Upon reaching the elven village, they meet the shrine maiden Reiren, who requests their help rescuing the Great Elder and defeating the former Great Elder, Alfreya, the Hero of the Celestials.

This mission forces the group to confront the complex issue of humans interfering in the affairs of other races, adding a layer of moral conflict to their journey. Yet as they proceed, Reiren joins Kai, Jeanne, and Rinne in their quest to the angel palace. However, the group is thrown off by Reiren’s failure to mention a crucial detail: the presence of a creepy robotic entity with Alfreya…

Overall, this episode continues to build on the show’s intricate world-building, though it suffers from some predictable plot devices and animation issues. The alliance between the humans and elves introduces interesting dynamics, but the episode’s pacing and buildup leave much to be desired. While the story remains engaging, the execution falters, making it a solid yet somewhat unsatisfying entry in the series.
