English Dub Review: True Beauty “Danger never sleeps”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
The Sebom Goddess competition starts off with a dance mission that only ignites Jugyeong’s wish to quit altogether.  Her fellow candidate, Sujin, suddenly arranges a blind date for her with a boy from another school.  The date goes smoothly.  Almost too smoothly.

Our Take:
The school’s beauty competition is in full swing, although I wouldn’t say that Jugyeong is as excited as we are.  The competition’s first objective involves a dance competition, but the problem is that Jugyeong struggles to quit to avoid embarrassment.  Unfortunately, since her new friends are counting on her to win, she has no choice but to practice that sexual dance they sent to her.  However, that’s not the only problem Jugyeong encounters in this episode besides Suho and Seojun, as Sujin may have a secret agenda against her.  Sujin may seem friendly at first in the previous episode, but considering her winning streak in the Sebom Goddess event, it’s unsurprising that she isn’t.  Remember the phrase “keep your friends close and your enemies closer”?  Well, that describes Sujin, who is apparently plotting to take out the competition.
If that’s not enough to convince you, try adding that Sujin also sets up a blind date for Jugyeong with a seemingly harmless student named Hyunwoo.  He’s as handsome as the pictures suggest, so we should be lucky Jugyeong didn’t get catfished in this episode.  However, that doesn’t make Hyunwoo even less of a pervert, as Seojun caught him planning to spy on Jugyeong with a hidden camera.  From a narrative standpoint, it was a predictable outcome that I saw coming a mile away, but it was satisfying to see Seojun punch Hyunwoo in the face regardless.  I always believe people like Hyunwoo deserve this punishment, but I also think the person who deserved something worse is Sujin for setting up that “date”.  Hopefully, she’ll get what she deserves in next week’s episode.
