English Dub Review: Oshi No Ko “Tokyo Blade”

Overview:

The stage is set. The actors are ready. And the curtain rises on the play, Tokyo Blade. However, another story aside from the play is that of the actors themselves.

Our Take:

I had to look at which studio was animating this season of Oshi No Ko. Don’t get me wrong the first season had amazing animation but this first episode was so stunning I wanted to make sure it was the same studio. I must not have even looked at the studio during season one because I’m not sure I’d heard of Doga Kobo before but as it turns out they’ve animated some of my favorite anime, including one of my favorites of the summer Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian. This episode had some of the best animation I’ve seen in a long time. All of the colors popped, and in one of my favorite scenes, Kana and one of her castmates were rehearsing and became their characters in the eyes of everyone watching.

This arc is just starting and I think it will be a lot of fun for people. One bright side to having read the manga as it came out is that it gave my memory time to forget some of the things that happened. I don’t recall every little thing that happened, I just remember it being great. I’m excited for this show to be back, it’s going to be a fun season.
