Overview (Spoilers Below):

Sion orders the sage candidates to kill each other until only one remains. Meanwhile, Yogiri, who fell to the seventh layer of the demon world, aims to return to the sixth.

Our Take:

It’s easy to assume that Sion is not making things any easier for the potential sages.  In a twist that’s not really surprising, Sion announced that the contestants will be forced to battle each other in a last-man-standing match equivalent to the Hunger Games.  If we’re willing to conclude the season, we might as well conclude it with some “high-stakes” violence.  To make things even more “exciting”, Yogiri becomes trapped in the seventh layer of the Underworld and must now make his way to the top again.  But he’ll have to rely on Daimon’s assistance since he’s the only one who knows the way out.  Following this successful escape, Yogiri eventually reunites with Tomochika and Mokomoko, where they encounter Mikochi’s necromancer abilities.  However, this is another short-lived battle thanks to Yogiri’s instant death ability.

The penultimate episode of My Instant Death Ability does offer some stakes in this Hunger Games-type match, including the students dying by each other, a blue slime, and even Yogiri’s ability.  However, regarding the latter, it still struggled to crack the code in making an OP ability fun amid its tiring comedy.  But that could change in the season finale, mainly due to Sion, who’s revealed to be immune to one of the students’ instant death ability.  This could give Yogiri’s powerful ability a run for its money, but after what I’ve been experiencing from this show, I’m pretty much ready for it to die now.
