English Dub Review: My Instant Death Ability is Overpowered “It’s Like a Class Full of People Who Only Want to Save Themselves”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
Yogiri and Tomochika arrive at the capital and must take on a demon at the king’s command.  Meanwhile, several classmates know Yogiri’s identity.

Our Take:
The duo has finally caught up with the other students, but much to my dismay, the journey is far from over.  With everyone in one place, they’re now tasked by the king of Manii to tackle a special challenge: defeating the Dark God in the Underworld.  No, I’m not talking about the actual Underworld.  I’m talking about the dungeon that the students are traveling in, with the Dark God residing in the seventh level.  In short, we’re pretty much in the dungeon-crawling section of the show’s isekai RPG narrative, and not a very fun one.  At the very least, the characters’ costumes looked pretty neat, including Ryouko in her samurai outfit and Carol S. Lane as a ninja.  Plus, Tomochika wore her black costume, which was teased in the opening intro.
Amid the students’ quest, the episode jumps back and forth between the other characters from earlier episodes.  Some of those plot points are shorter than most, but the people it focuses on are planning to kill Yogiri.  One is Lute, who becomes the latest character to take Daimon as their ally during their journey to assassinate Yogiri.  The other is Ayaka Shinozaki, who threatens to kill anyone daily as a form of revenge, with Yogiri possibly included.  She has already started her killing spree by murdering one of the members of the Three Arrogant Nobles in cold blood, so Yogiri should stay on his toes.  There’s also Euphemia, who finally encounters the young girl who might be the spitting image of Lain.
With the show nearing its end, things could get a bit enticing now that specific people are out for Yogiri’s blood, with Sion leading the charge.  However, the episode’s middling attempt at focusing on its overstuffed characters makes it difficult to get attached to what’s in store. There’s no doubt that its take on the isekai genre is what kept me going, but execution-wise?  It’s still too underwhelming to make its “OP character” aspect stand out.
