English Dub Review: My Instant Death Ability is Overpowered “A Woman from the Past Appeared. Tomochika is Shocked to Her Core…”

Overview (Spoilers Below): Yogiri senses the gaze and murderous intent of someone different.  To lure out the culprit, he heads into the city with Tomochika.

Our Take: We’ve reached the final stages of this isekai adventure, and it’s no surprise that there’s plenty of stuff going on.  It’s not just Yogiri and Tomochika that’s the least of our problems, but also everyone else, including Ayaka Shinozaki, who’s going on a killing spree to murder as many students as possible.  There’s also Lute and Daimon heading into the Underworld to help Mistress Mana escape from her prison set by her older brother.  However, that doesn’t seem to be the bigger issue since she could walk in and out of her bubble-like prison anytime, as Daimon suggested.  I’m guessing that Mana created an illusion of herself outside the bubble, but the episode didn’t suggest that unless I missed something. The pacing and transitions were all over the place regarding its subplots, leaving no room for the narrative to breathe a little.  One minute, we see Ayaka murder the students and the king of Manii.  The next, we see Lute, Daimon, and Mana in a scrapbook-like lair.  It seems like the show is introducing as much as possible before the first season concludes to grab my attention.  Long story short: it doesn’t. The only storyline that’s consistent regarding the pacing is Yogiri luring out the assassins who are targeting him.  It’s not as thrilling as Ayaka’s killing spree, but at least it allowed me to recover from its rapid-fire pacing.  However, Sion’s shocking competition could change that before the season concludes.
