English Dub Review: My Hero Academia “A Chain of Events, Across the Ages”

Overview:

Deku finally arrives at the Coffin in the Sky! Seeing Bakugo and the others defeated by Shigaraki/All For One, Deku shakes with anger. Can he control his feelings and win against Shigaraki? It’s finally time for a showdown!

Our Take:

When it comes to fights in Shonen I’m used to the hero gaining more power once they’re pissed off. We all remember Goku going super saiyan for the first time after watching Vegeta and Krillin getting killed. But Deku’s strength is in his tactical mind so if he goes berserk he fights worse, and when he saw what happened to Bakugo you can imagine how he’d react. Luckily, Mirio was there to talk some sense into Deku.

I’m enjoying this fight a lot more than when I read it in the manga. Shigiraki and All for One have melded into one person… kind of. That’s the thing, it’s a little confusing but with the anime, it’s not as hard to differentiate between the two. Since they share a body, they share a voice, so I have to give props to Eric Vale because he’s pulling double duty. He has to voice Shigiraki and All for One now that they share a body. I’d also like to shout out Justin Briner for letting out Deku’s rage. Justin is more of a subdued voice actor and I feel he’s pretty quiet but he let us know that Deku was pissed.
