English Dub Review: I Parry Everything “I Parry Rewards”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
After Noor takes out a vicious demon, the likes of which folks have never seen, he is reluctant to take credit.  However, Lynne, the girl Noor saved, seeks him out.

Our Take:
Noor had successfully killed a minotaur with his immaculate parrying skills, but that was just the beginning of a chain of events that he had unintentionally caused.  The minotaur that he defeated was sent by King Deridas to assassinate Lady Lynneburg Clays and claim her kingdom’s Labyrinth of the Lost.  However, because Noor mistook the minotaur as a “giant cow”, he was unaware of the massive situation he may have started.  This continues further when Noor is invited by Lynne to meet her father, King Clays, without realizing his identity.  But, at least, the ruler seems more gratuitous than he appears, much to our relief.  Plus, Noor gets the King’s massive black sword as a reward for rescuing Lynne.
The episode further portrays Noor as a gullible yet humble protagonist whose generosity may be seen as a strength and weakness.  On the one hand, Noor refuses any reward except his duty as an adventurer, making him honorable and selfless.  But, on the other hand, his lack of common sense could wind up biting him in the butt when all is said and done.  I wouldn’t blame the guy for his weak social skills due to his isolation at the farm almost all his life.  However, after Noor’s encounter with Lynne’s bodyguard and vice-captain, Ines, about the King, he should’ve put those pieces together by now.
Noor’s personality should also refer to his skills and battles, as he doesn’t seem to comprehend his immaculate power and parrying techniques outside his F-rank jobs.  In short, we’re dealing with a naive adventurer who’s kind-hearted but unaware of his surroundings.  Aside from the frustration of Noor being unaware of Lynne’s family’s identity, “I Parry Rewards” was suitable for expanding Noor’s personality, which would likely make or break the series based on his actions.
