English Dub Review: Delico’s Nursery “A Curse Called Love”

Overview:

Dali’s son Raphael has entered his long-dreaded rebellious phase. Envious of the attention Dali is lavishing on his younger son, Ul, Raphael wishes for his little brother’s death…

Our Take:

I thought only certain vampires could assert their will over other vampires by biting them. But it seems that any vampire can so long as they bite someone. This seems like a big problem for a lot of reasons. One of which is brought up in this very episode, if someone who is part of the government gets bitten then what’s stopping someone from getting them to spill secretive info? This time, the answer was having your own “initiative” in place to counteract it. But when the bad guys put their countermeasure in place to have you kill yourself if you start to spill any info then it doesn’t work. I’ll see how this plot point works in later episodes.

I think Dali is one of the better anime dads I’ve seen, he’s not perfect by any means but he’s trying. His friends think it’s obvious that Raphael is jealous of all the attention that Ul gets but for some reason, Dali can’t figure it out. I’m glad that he didn’t strike Raphael when he said he wished Ul was dead, but I do wish he would have gone after his son. I don’t know if it’s a good or bad thing that I’m more interested in the family dynamics than I am in the murder mystery.
