English Dub Review: The Misfit of Demon King Academy “Liebarschend, the God of Vestiges”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
Anos and Pope Golroana clash for the future of their respective countries!  GGG launches a fierce attack with Gospel Magic using the power of the God of Gospel Doldread, who controls sound.  Anos counters with the song of the Dilhade Demon King Choir and brings Golroana’s support, the former popes, into the fray.  Yet even after the conclusion of the battle, Golroana continues his prayers.  Anos offers him peace, but…

Our Take:
Anos has reached the Pope but is unwilling to go down that easily.  Since the last fight in the previous episode didn’t provide many stakes for the titular “misfit”, I assumed this struggle would compensate for it.  Since Golroana possesses Gospel Magic from Doldread, this would’ve been a grand musical duel to the death.  Unfortunately, this one didn’t last as long as the previous fight, but it met my expectations of being a music-filled battle.  How does this fight end, you ask?  Simple: by bringing back the cheerfully nonsensical Demon King Hymn from the previous episode.  Since the song is one of the highlights of last week’s episode, I was glad that the show brought it back for this occasion.
While the fight between Anos and Golroana was a mixed bag, the events afterward were enough to reinvigorate my interest in the show’s direction.  As Anos and Arcana continue to explore their dreams, the latter discovers that her younger self encountered a mysterious man named Ceris, who offered Arcana a chance to unlock her magic if she convinced Anos to accept his invitation.  Later on, we discover who Ceris really is while Arcana searches for her memories in Liebarschend’s dream, in which Ceris is actually Anos’s father.  It’s unclear why he’s confronting his “son” amid this predicament, though I assume he wasn’t here for a heartwarming family reunion. I should also admit that the ending took me by surprise, meaning we’re finally getting to the enticing part as we’re nearing the end of this divisive season.
