English Dub Review: The Misfit of Demon King Academy “Demon King Hymn No. 6 ‘Neighbors’”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
The sacred Sojourner’s Psalm to be performed at the Divine Dragon Festival is in danger of being canceled due to Ahide’s schemes!  Ellen and the Anos Fan Union are asked to take the stage instead as the Dilhade Demon King Choir.  The Draconids are drawn in by their song and begin to sing along.  Meanwhile, while trying to pursue and capture Ahide, Anos encounters Dietrich, the King of Agatha, who has received a prophecy from the Goddess of the Future Naphta.

Our Take:
There’s bound to be one jerk attempting to ruin a good time at a festival.  In this case, that jerk happens to be Ahide, who’s returned to dismiss the gods and destroy the Divine Dragon Festival for everyone.  Fortunately, Anos is present at the right moment to foil his plans once more.  Despite Ahide being a decoy, the powerful misfit managed to stop his ploy just in time for the Anos Fan Union to perform on stage.  The song they performed, Demon King Hymn No. 6 “Neighbors”, is nonsensical, but its lighthearted meaning wins the hearts of the Song Sages and every other Draconid.  Even I would admit that the Fan Union’s musical number was one of the season’s highlights amid its convoluted world-building.  It’s one of those catchy tunes I couldn’t help but bop my head to.
Following the performance, Anos and Arcana received assistance from the King of Agatha, Dietrich, and his godly companion, Naphta, the Goddess of the Future.  Dietrich arrives to take back his country dragon that Ahide stole from him and partake in the Judgment Selection.  After bringing Ahide in to Pope Golroana for his crimes, Anos and Dietrich take part in a competition to be chosen by the Judgment Selection.  Anos battles Naphta while Arcana stands her ground against Dietrich.  Considering Naphta’s ability, this battle would’ve taken at least more than one episode, but that isn’t the case since we’re finally close to the season’s conclusion. Anos quickly defeats Naphta, resulting in Dietrich conceding the match, knowing he’s fighting an unwinnable battle.
“Demon King Hymn No. 6 ‘Neighbors'” is another episode that features both a high point and a low point in its plot.  The Anos Fan Union’s musical performance in the first half was an innocent yet charming sequence that’s also quite catchy.  On the other hand, the second half felt pretty rushed with Anos’s friendly competition against Dietrich and Naphta.  But I should’ve known this fight wouldn’t last that long, considering Anos’s maximum power level.  Maybe his showdown with Pope Golroana in next week’s episode might change that.
