English Dub Review: SHY “Storming In”

Overview:

Shy and the team she’s put together infiltrate the black orb and begin their rescue mission. They’re beset by a member of Amarariku who squares up against Mianlong, man-to-man.

Our Take:

I think this arc will be good for the growth of Shy, she’s never had to be in a leadership role before and this has all the tells of a serious issue. The black orb surrounding Tokyo is doing something to the people inside but it’s not clear yet whether it’s going to hurt them or have any lasting effects. Lady Black is the medic of the group and she ran some tests on them and it came out that they were healthy at the moment but that could change at a moments notice. Normally, Jill Harris voices Lady Black but this episode it was pretty obvious there was a stand-in for her. I’ll say what I normally say in these situations, I just hope everything is okay with her.

Doki is the lizard looking villain that is, for some reason, helping the group get to the center of the orb. Or he was until Shy mentioned that he was “girlie” for liking cute things, especially plushies. This lead to one of the most hilarious hypocritical fights I’ve ever seen. Mianlong stayed behind to fight him and Doki said it must be nice to be able to like cute things since Mianlong is a girl. Now you might have noticed that Mianlong is a guy and not only that but he’s pretty sensitive about being confused for a girl. I don’t think these two need to fight and might be best friends waiting to happen.
