English Dub Review: SHY “Nothing Is Permanent”

Overview:

The infiltration team is forced to deal with the trolly problem presented by Kufufu. In the aftermath, Ai reflects on her perception of Amarariruku and shares the details of her relationship with one of its members.

Our Take:

I will be on an OP kick with some of these reviews. “WILLSHINE” by Passcode is the second opening for SHY and it’s an awesome song. If you ever watched Parasyte you probably heard its OP “Let Me Hear” by Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas, and these songs have similar vibes. You wouldn’t know that if you just listened to the TV sample version but trust these girls scream their hearts out and it fits this series well.

It will come as no surprise if you’ve read many of my reviews but I’m a huge Brittney Karbowski fan and this show adds fuel to that fire. Kufufu is about as psychopathic a character as you can find, and Brittney kills it. For the most part, you know the character is crazy but their voice is so silly it lulls you into thinking they’re not a threat. That’s when Brittney lets the malice through and you know the characters aren’t safe. Once again great work by a great VA.

Ai is making a case for my favorite character and in this episode, we get a lot of backstory about her and her sister. It’s still a little confusing as to why her sister fell to darkness so easily but it’s a tragic story that I hope we can get a happy-ish ending like we did with Pepesha’s mother last season.
