English Dub Review: My Instant Death Ability is Overpowered “The Fact That You’re Watching This Video…”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
Masayuki releases zombies to run amok in the city!  Meanwhile, outside the city, Lain devises a plan to see how powerful Yogiri’s “instant death ability” really is…

Our Take:
It looks like we’re heading into “Resident Evil” territory for this episode.  The previous episode introduced us to Masayuki, a humanoid demon who terrorized the city where Yogiri and Tomochika are staying.  But, as it turns out, he’s also responsible for unleashing a horde of zombies and monsters upon the innocent victims.  It’s later revealed that Lain and her recent servant, Euphoria, are responsible for the catastrophe as part of their scheme to study Yogiri’s “Instant Death Ability”.  Unsurprisingly, she got what she came for, but not in the way she expected.  With the help of the city’s mayor, Ryouta, Yogiri and Tomochika easily overcome the zombie horde and the manipulated citizens with his unstoppable power.  This also reveals that Yogiri’s ability can even kill the undead since they’re as alive as the people with flesh.
There’s also the matter of the darkness monster running amok, turning everything it passes into dust.  When I first saw that creature, I thought it would be the only thing that would be ineffective against Yogiri’s ability.  Sadly, as it turns out, the “Darkness” is instead another victim of the instant death ability, foiling Lain’s plan.  But that doesn’t mean we see the last of her, as the younger version of herself is ready to take action.  As usual, there’s nothing wrong with having an OP character take care of business without breaking a sweat, but so far, there hasn’t been a single enemy immune to Yogiri’s “I win” button.  So, the stakes surrounding the protagonists just seem nonexistent and dull, with this episode being no exception.  The stakes would likely come near the tail end of the season, but I’m not holding my breath.
