English Dub Review: My Hero Academia “Light Fades to Rain”

Overview:

Bakugo’s Howitzer Impact didn’t work against Shigaraki/All For One, either, and Bakugo is pushed into a corner by Shigaraki’s power and words. To get him out of that predicament, U.A.’s Big Three take a stand!

Our Take(Spoilers):

I’ll be the first to admit that the My Hero Academia manga has lost my interest in the last few years. This was the arc where I started to feel that way but the anime brings it to life in a way that makes it a whole lot more compelling. Some of the art is lost in translation as it always is but I think animating these scenes clears up some of the confusion a little more. With the manga ending after ten years in the next couple of days, we are reaching the end of an era. I’ve heard both good and bad but with the anime hyping me up I think I’m ready to dive back in and see how it ends for myself.

What My Hero Academia does better than any other series is hype me up and get me caught up in my emotions. This was a tough point in the manga for me because I was finally starting to like Bakugo as a character. He had finally come to terms with his feelings and why he treated Deku like garbage. His character growth was getting close to that of Endeavor and Shoto and then this episode happens. If you don’t tear up in the last five minutes of this episode then I don’t know if you have a heart. This episode shows that while this series may not be strong from start to finish when it’s at the top of its game few do it better.
