English Dub Review: Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture “Purple Surf”

Overview:

Unidentified machines pose fear and confusion to people. This evil force closes
in on Sakura.

Our Take(Spoilers):

This episode gave me some Avengers assembling vibes. Akito and his group, and Suzaku are all fighting the machines that are blending people up like smoothies. If you want to know WHY these machines are vacuuming up people well you might have to wait a bit. Norland has been doing his best “Char Aznable” impression for most of the series but believe me when I say we just learned why he’s been wearing a mask and it was quite the reveal. I’m going to give another little spoiler warning here because the direction this takes the show might rub some people the wrong way.

Norland was made as a clone of Charles zi Britannia who was essentially the main villain of the original series. If there’s anyone who has complex machinations down to a science it’s that man. Between everything he came to learn about C.C. and all the different Geass, not to mention the fact that he was able to outsmart Lelouch a few times and he might be the smartest anime character I’ve ever seen. My biggest worry about this series now is if it will be able to stick the ending because Code Geass has one of the best anime endings ever and while I wasn’t opposed to more of it I hope they don’t ruin the ending.
