English Dub Review: Chained Soldier “Curiosity, Shushu, Undress”

Yuuki is recruited to work as a caretaker at the 7th Squadron’s dorm in Mato.  Shushu catches him unaware and turns him into her boy toy.  Suddenly, a giant Shuuki attacks!

Our Take: 

The good news is that Yuuki received the best job in the world.  The bad news?  He’s working as the caretaker for the 7th Squadron of the Demon Defense Force.  So, it looks like he’s not going to be on the battlefield a lot until the team needs him.  However, Yuuki gets to hang out with Kyouka and the other members daily, so it’s not a total loss for the ordinary high school student.  

The previous episode set up what seemed to be the horniest anime I’ll ever see, and I haven’t even gotten to the recent magical girl one everyone’s been craving about.  I already experienced Yuuki receiving the biggest French kiss of his life from Kyouka, and it looks like he’ll be receiving another sexual reward from one of her members in this week’s episode.  That honor belongs to Shushu Suruga, whose ability allows her to alter her size, increasing her strength the larger she becomes.  The episode also explores Shushu further amid her blackmailing Yuuki, with her growing up with only her sisters and reading adventure novels, the former being the reason she’s flirting with Yuuki.  Before watching the show, the only time I noticed the interaction between Shushu and Yuuki is from the clips involving them, including Shushu making fun of Yuuki’s penis and Yuuki landing inside her boobs.  Without sounding like a pervert, those clips were the only reasons Chained Soldier caught my interest.  Fortunately, those moments appear in this episode, and they’re unsurprisingly just as amusing as when I first saw them online.

“Curiosity, Shushu, Undress” offers another love-hate relationship between different characters, with Yuuki being a sympathetic yet easily timid caretaker.  As for Shushu, she has a mischievous and playful personality that easily won me over thanks to Juliet Simmons’ solid performance.  This relationship might play a role in future episodes since Shushu may have been developing feelings for the Defense Force’s caretaker.  However, that may be put on hold, as a mysterious being is searching for Yuuki for a particular reason.
