English Dub Review: Bye Bye, Earth “Performance of Swords and Scales, Good and Evil”

Overview:

Belle and Adonis march into the Katakombe to pursue the rebel solist Tiziano, only for their mismatched band to charge straight into a trap. Belle must make unlikely allies to avoid a watery grave.

Our Take:

Remember how I compared this series to The Twelve Kingdoms? That show took a while to get going as well but one thing it had going for was the fact it had over forty episodes, whereas according to MAL this will only have ten episodes. I thought it could cover the entirety of the light novel since there were only four volumes, but something tells me it will be hard if my current confusion level is anything to go by. But at the very least it’s still chugging along and keeping me interested, mainly because the way this army operates is pretty unique. It’s more like an orchestra than anything else with someone “conducting” the battle.

One fun piece of lore this episode dropped was about mermaids. It seems like they’re almost like “mirrors” and reflect whichever person they are currently in a relationship of sorts with. This means Bennett the mermaid is starting to act like Belle after her friend or boyfriend, not sure which, dies. This may sound lame but that hooked me for this episode and I can’t wait to see how this works out.
