English Dub Review: Bye Bye, Earth “Farewell to Those Who Play the Land”

Overview:

Belle must fight before royalty, the divine, and all of Park City to earn the priivilege of going on her nomad’s journey. The very first step of that journey, however, may be closer to home than she realizes.

Our Take:

This might seem like the same review as last week because once again I’ll be saying, I’m not sure on this one yet. There are a bunch of reasons why I’m not buying in yet, I still have no clue what’s going on and just when I thought I did the rug gets pulled out from under me. Belle somehow has parents, sure they are animals just like everyone else so I’m sure it was an adoption situation but it felt like I was led to believe that she had a sad lonely childhood. Not true based on some of the flashbacks we got this episode and now they have a real child of their own so I felt some conflicting feelings coming from Belle which makes sense. Not only that but I thought all animals were anthropomorphic but there was a regular rabbit running around. But after it ate some rocks now it is humanoid, I’m officially lost.

I was also under the impression that Belle had killed Sian to move on with her journey but he showed up in some other realm? Maybe, it was this worlds version of heaven but it was just a little off. We’ve now reached the third episode and if I had to say whether you should or shouldn’t keep watching I wouldn’t know what to say. It’s intriguing and the animation is good but I just don’t understand what is going on. Belle wants to be a nomad really bad which leads me to believe that it has a different meaning in this world then here especially since she had to prove her worth. I hope this gets better and soon.
